Kyrgyz Finance Minister Almaz Baketaev and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Vice President Matteo Patrone have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop a framework supporting municipal infrastructure, irrigation, and transport projects in Kyrgyzstan, with a total value of up to 400 million euros.
The initiative aims to boost sustainable infrastructure and optimize EBRD investments in the country, The Caspian Post informs via Kyrgyz media.
As part of the partnership, the EBRD has approved a second tranche of financing worth 3.3 million euros, including a 1.6 million grant euros, for a water supply modernization project in Bazar-Korgon. The project will provide continuous access to drinking water and improved sanitation for over 60,000 residents.
This marks the seventh sovereign infrastructure project signed by the EBRD in Kyrgyzstan in 2025, highlighting growing international support for the country’s development priorities.
