Kyrgyzstan will hold its next presidential election on January 27, 2027, following the signing of a new constitutional law by President Sadyr Japarov.

Japarov signed the Constitutional Law “On Election of the President and Deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh,” which was adopted by parliament on June 24, 2026, Kabar reports.

The legislation is designed to strengthen and improve Kyrgyzstan’s electoral framework.

Under the new law, voting days for both presidential and parliamentary elections will be recognized as official public holidays, regardless of whether voters are employed by state institutions or private companies.

The change in the presidential election date was previously approved by deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh in June. Parliament Speaker Marlen Mamataliev said the move was intended to increase voter turnout by making it easier for citizens to participate in the election.
