Novel by Kyrgyz writer Sultan Raev published in English language in New York

The novel by Kyrgyz writer Sultan Raev "Janjaza" was translated into English language and published under the title Castigationby Syracuse publishing house, The Caspian Post reports citing the AkiPress.

The book was translated into English by Shelley Fairweather-Vega.

Raev's novel was included in the list of 20 best books to be published in 2025 by the Syracuse publishing house, having received high praise from American literary scholars.

Professor of the University of Chicago and literary scholar Kogan Arik assessed Castigation as "a discovery not only in the literature of Central Asia, but in literature in general" and added that "through this novel, we discover a new world".

The novel was previously published in several languages.
