A rock collapse has occurred at Jerooy gold deposit, Kyrgyzstan’s second-largest gold mine, leaving one person dead and two injured.
A forensic medical examination has been ordered, and official requests have been sent to relevant agencies as investigators work to determine the circumstances of the accident, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.
The injured workers reportedly said they have no claims against the company, while checks are ongoing.
The operator of the deposit, Alliance Altyn, said the incident occurred on January 27, when a section of rock mass detached inside the mine. At the time, four employees of a contracting firm were present at the production site. The underground operations were being carried out by BPK LLC, the general contractor.
To establish the exact causes of the collapse, an interagency commission has been formed, bringing together authorized representatives of state bodies to conduct a full investigation into the fatal accident.
