President Masoud Pezeshkian has affirmed that Iran is interested in pursuing serious and constructive cooperation with China, particularly within the framework of the strategic Belt and Road Initiative.
On Thursday, a meeting chaired by President Pezeshkian, was held to review various aspects of Iran-China relations and to outline the agenda for his upcoming visit to China, The Caspian Post reports, citing Iranian media.
Senior officials from relevant organizations attended the session.
During the meeting, key elements of bilateral relations and areas of cooperation between Tehran and Beijing were discussed. Participants also reviewed the current status of joint agreements and projects, and proposed recommendations to accelerate their implementation and completion.
President Pezeshkian described Iran-China relations as “strategic”, emphasizing Iran’s role as a reliable partner for China in political, economic, and international arenas - especially in countering unilateralism.
He also highlighted Iran’s regional and global geopolitical significance and reiterated the country’s interest in deepening constructive cooperation with China, particularly in the Belt and Road Initiative.
According to Mehdi Sanai, the President’s political advisor, President Pezeshkian is scheduled to travel to China on Sunday, August 31, to participate in and deliver speeches at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit and the SCO Plus forum.
The SCO Summit 2025 will take place in Tianjin, eastern China, from August 31 to September 1, with high-ranking officials from over 30 countries in attendance.
