Kazakhstan, Iran Deepen Cooperation in Key Sectors

Kazakh Deputy Foreign Minister Alibek Bakayev met with his Iranian counterpart Kazem Gharibabadi to discuss a broad range of bilateral issues.

The talks focused on strengthening political dialogue, enhancing trade and economic cooperation, expanding transport and logistics collaboration, and advancing joint work within the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, The Caspian Post reports, citing the Kazakh Foreign Ministry.

The leaders also emphasized the implementation of agreements reached during the first official visit of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Kazakhstan on December 10-11, 2025, expressing mutual interest in consistent follow-through and boosting cooperation in priority areas.

In a separate meeting, Kazakhstan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Arman Issetov engaged with the Iranian delegation on multilateral cooperation and coordination within international organizations. The discussions covered upcoming United Nations events, Caspian Sea cooperation, and current developments in the Middle East and global affairs.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continued constructive dialogue and further deepening comprehensive cooperation between Astana and Tehran.
