A magnitude 4.2 earthquake has been recorded in Russia's Kamchatka region, according to experts from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).

The tremors occurred on Tuesday, September 15, at 22:38 local time (14:38 Moscow time), The Caspian Post reports, citing EMSC.

The earthquake had a magnitude of 4.2, which seismologists classify as a perceptible tremor that can cause minor damage in areas close to the epicenter.

The epicenter was located 72 kilometers east of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, a town with a population of 2,400. The earthquake originated at a depth of 50 kilometers.

No injuries or damage have been reported in the region.
