Azerbaijan has extradited two Uzbek nationals who were on the international wanted list to Uzbekistan, according to the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan.
In a statement, the Prosecutor General's Office said that Rahmatullo Mirzaalimov, born in 1981, and Azamatjon Tokhtasinov, born in 1976, were handed over to the Uzbek authorities at the request of the Prosecutor General's Office of Uzbekistan to face criminal prosecution, The Caspian Post reports.
The two men are accused of embezzlement on an especially large scale committed by a group of individuals through the abuse of their official positions, as well as the use of forged documents. Based on these allegations, they had been placed on the international wanted list.
The Prosecutor General's Office said both suspects were detained in Azerbaijan in April 2026 and were subsequently transferred to the competent authorities of Uzbekistan in compliance with Azerbaijan's international obligations.
