The Caspian Environmental Summit will be held in Turkmenistan on October 9, with the participation of the leaders of all five Caspian littoral states.
The shallowing of the Caspian Sea is expected to be among the issues discussed at the summit, The Caspian Post reports, citing TASS.
Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov said the meeting would address cooperation among the Caspian littoral countries.
“It is expected that the Caspian Environmental Summit will focus primarily on the issue of cooperation among the littoral states in the field of environmental protection, with an emphasis on the problem of the Caspian Sea’s shallowing,” he said.
The summit is expected to result in a declaration on addressing environmental problems affecting the Caspian Sea, including its shallowing.
