Checkpoints on Kyrgyz-Tajik Border Ready for Opening

Checkpoints along the Kyrgyz-Tajik border are ready to open in the Batken region.

The official opening ceremony of the Kyzyl-Bel-Avtodorozhny checkpoint and the Kairagach-Avtodorozhny checkpoint is scheduled for March 13, The Caspian Post reports citing Akipress.

President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov and President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon will take part in the opening online.

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon arrived on a state visit to Kyrgyzstan on March 12. He was met at the Manas airport by President Sadyr Japarov.

According to the residents of the region, improvement work has been underway near the Kyzyl-Bel-Avtodorozhny checkpoint since March 11. Asphalt is laid on the road connecting the two states, and the adjacent territories are cleaned.

All checkpoints on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border were closed at the beginning of May 2021. This decision was made after the armed conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border that occurred on April 28-30, 2021.
