Polar Bear Attacks Family in Northern Russia, Child Injured

A polar bear has attacked a family of three near the village of Nosok in northern Krasnoyarsk Territory, Russia, injuring a child.

The victims, 11, 20 and 43, were evacuated for medical care, with authorities considering transferring one of them to Dudinka district hospital for further treatment, The Caspian Post reports via Russian media.

The incident occurred in the Taymyrsky Dolgano-Nenetsky District, about 40 km from Nosok, at a fishing site. A local police officer and residents helped the family, approaching the area with snowmobiles and all-terrain vehicles to scare off the bear.

Upon seeing the vehicles, the bear fled, and locals warned nearby fishing sites and passing vehicles in the Brekhovsky Islands area about the polar bear.
