Russia’s Transbaikal region has been hit by an unseasonal snowstorm just as summer began, disrupting conditions in parts of the region and significantly reducing visibility on roads.
The town of Petrovsk-Zabaykalsky was covered in heavy snowfall, with streets and surrounding areas becoming blanketed within a matter of hours, The Caspian Post reports, citing Telegram channel Mash.
Authorities reported that visibility on key routes deteriorated rapidly as snowfall intensified, resulting in hazardous driving conditions and raising concerns about possible transport disruptions.
Meteorologists have warned that sub-zero temperatures could extend beyond Transbaikal in the coming days, with frosts expected to reach neighbouring Buryatia as the cold spell continues.
