A secret weapons cache has been discovered in the apartment of a 65-year-old woman in St. Petersburg’s Primorsky District.
Officers searched the pensioner’s apartment and seized two objects resembling grenades, 18 items resembling firearm components, two rifles, a shotgun, more than 2,000 rounds of ammunition and a container of gunpowder, according to Lenta.ru.
A forensic examination found that 75 rounds of 7.62-millimeter ammunition were pistol cartridges intended for use with rifled firearms and were suitable for firing.
One of the rifles was identified as a Mosin rifle. Investigators also found 256.7 grams of smokeless gunpowder.
The weapons and ammunition were not registered to the woman.
A criminal case has been opened against her under Part 1 of Article 222.1 and Part 1 of Article 222 of Russia’s Criminal Code, concerning the illegal possession of explosive substances and firearms.
