Five tourists who set out on a snowmobile trip in Russia’s Perm city have gone missing, triggering a volunteer-led search operation.

The group traveled by car from Ufa to the remote village of Zolotanka in the Krasnovishersky District on February 20, The Caspian Post reports via Russian media.

They were expected to return on February 24 after exploring the scenic Kvarkush Plateau, a popular but rugged destination known for its vast snow-covered landscapes.

However, the travelers have not made contact for four days. Their vehicles remain where they were parked, raising concerns about what may have happened during the snowmobile expedition.

Volunteers are currently leading the search efforts. Authorities noted that the group did not register their route with Russia’s emergency services before departing - a step strongly recommended for winter trips in remote areas.
