Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is making an official visit to the United Arab Emirates, with regional security and freedom of navigation among the key issues on the agenda.

Fidan’s talks with UAE officials will cover regional security, freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and Bab el-Mandeb, preparations for the second meeting of the High-Level Strategic Council, as well as the situation in Gaza and other regional crises, according to TRT Haber.

During the visit, Fidan is scheduled to meet UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan and National Security Adviser Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Maritime security will be a major focus of the discussions. Fidan is expected to stress the importance of maintaining freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and Bab el-Mandeb.

Türkiye also supports resolving regional crises with countries in the region taking the leading role.

The talks will also address developments in Gaza and Lebanon. Türkiye supports moving to the second phase of the Gaza peace plan, rebuilding infrastructure and maintaining the ceasefire. The visit will also include consultations on the activities of the Peace Council, which was established by Türkiye and the UAE.

The two sides are also expected to discuss bilateral trade and economic relations.
