Türkiye, Oman Seal Energy Pact to Strengthen Strategic Partnership

Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar has announced that Türkiye and Oman took a significant step toward deepening their energy partnership with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing collaboration in a wide range of energy sectors.

Bayraktar made these remarks during an official visit to Muscat, The Caspian Post reports via local media.

Moreover, Bayraktar met with Omani Minister of Energy and Minerals Salim Nasser Al Aufi to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in areas such as oil and natural gas exploration, transportation, and processing, as well as renewable energy, electricity, energy efficiency, and hydrogen technologies.

“Our aim is to transform shared energy interests into concrete projects that bring tangible benefits to both countries,” Bayraktar said, expressing confidence that the agreement will lead to lasting and meaningful cooperation across multiple sectors.

Both Türkiye and Oman voiced their commitment to turning this initial framework into long-term strategic initiatives that align with their national energy agendas and sustainable development goals.

As part of the visit, Bayraktar also held talks with Abdulsalam bin Mohammed Al Murshidi, Chairman of the Oman Investment Authority, to explore potential investment opportunities in areas ranging from hydrocarbons to renewable energy and electricity infrastructure, including projects in third countries.

In a further boost to bilateral energy relations, Türkiye’s state-owned Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) signed a tripartite agreement with Oman’s Ministry of Energy and Minerals (MEM) and OQ Exploration and Production New Ventures L.L.C. (OQEP).

The agreement grants TPAO and OQEP exclusive rights for a three-month evaluation period to study designated areas for potential oil and gas exploration and development.

Additionally, TPAO and OQEP inked a separate cooperation agreement focused on identifying new business opportunities in the energy sector, reinforcing Türkiye’s ambition to expand its upstream presence in Oman and build a broader strategic energy alliance.
