The Ukrainian Security Service’s drones have struck Russia’s largest oil-loading port in the Baltic Sea, Primorsk.
The port serves as the final hub of the Baltic Pipeline System and a key node for Russia’s shadow fleet, which circumvents international sanctions to sell oil globally, The Caspian Post reports via Ukrainian media.
The Ukrainian Security Service confirmed that the drone attack hit a vessel at the port and a pumping station, sparking fires and halting oil shipments. Officials estimate that daily losses to the Russian budget from the export suspension could reach up to $41 million.
In addition, the Ukrainian Security Service targeted several Russian oil pumping stations, including oil pumping station-3, oil pumping station Andreapol, and oil pumping station-7, which are critical elements of the pipeline system supplying crude oil to the Ust-Luga port terminal.
Primorsk handles approximately 60 million tons of oil annually, generating around $15 billion in revenue for Russia, making it a significant strategic target amid ongoing tensions.
