Azerbaijani Gymnasts Excel at European Championships in Portugal

The 2026 European Championships in Trampoline, Double Mini-Trampoline, and Tumbling, held in Portimão, Portugal, wrapped up with impressive results for Azerbaijani gymnastics.

As a whole, Azerbaijan was represented by 23 junior and senior gymnasts who advanced through qualifications to compete in multiple semifinals and finals, marking a historic achievement, The Caspian Post reports, citing AZERTAC.

In the trampoline event, the senior team finished fourth in the final, putting in a solid performance. The tumbling performances were a highlight of the competition, with the Azerbaijani team winning silver and Tofig Aliyev securing an individual silver with 29.300 points-his second in a row.

This European Championship marked a historic milestone for Azerbaijani gymnastics, as both junior and senior trampoline teams reached the finals for the first time, alongside the junior double mini-trampoline event.

Azerbaijani gymnasts advanced to 13 of the 16 possible finals at the European Championships, placing among the most successful participants of the event.
