Tashkent Selected to Host 2029 Asian Youth Games

The Executive Committee of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) has announced that Tashkent will host the 4th Asian Youth Games in 2029.

The decision was made during the closing ceremony of the 3rd Asian Youth Games held in Bahrain, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.

Tashkent was originally scheduled to host the Games in 2025. However, the OCA revoked its hosting rights after construction of the Olympic Town in the Uzbek capital fell behind schedule.

The Asian Youth Games were first established in 2009, with Singapore hosting the inaugural event. The second edition took place in Nanjing, China, in 2013.

After Tashkent lost its hosting rights, Bahrain stepped in to host the 2025 Games.

Uzbek athletes delivered the country’s best-ever performance in the Games, bagging 37 gold, 16 silver, and 28 bronze medals and claiming second place in the overall standings behind China.
