World Nomad Games: Kazakhstan Takes Top Spot in Medal Count

The Organizing Committee of the World Nomad Games has officially declared Kazakhstan the winner of the overall medal standings, Kyrgyz President’s press secretary Askat Alagozov said.

In a Facebook post, Alagozov said that the VI World Nomad Games concluded as a major sporting event featuring high-level competition and strong participation, The Caspian Post reports.

He highlighted events such as kok-boru and zher-ulaq as particularly spectacular, showcasing the skills of Kyrgyz and Kazakh teams.

Alagozov stressed that the sporting rivalry remained on the field, with no disputes among fans, reflecting the spirit of unity. He thanked athletes and supporters from both countries for their participation.

According to Alagozov, the only technical discrepancy involved the counting of medals. He said the Organizing Committee decided to count the medals won by three Kazakh athletes separately, which resulted in Kazakhstan taking first place in the overall standings.

Alagozov congratulated Kazakhstan, referring to its athletes as “brothers” and praising their victory. He also noted that Kyrgyz athletes delivered strong performances, demonstrating skill and endurance.

He stressed that the medal table represents only one aspect of sport, while the true achievement of the Games was the conduct of competitions in a spirit of mutual respect and fair rivalry, demonstrating the unity of the two brotherly peoples.
