A Tajik national previously detained in Azerbaijan has been extradited to his home country and handed over to Tajik authorities under special escort.
The individual, identified as Muhammadnido Nazarmuhammadzoda, was extradited following an official request from the Prosecutor-General’s Office of Tajikistan, The Caspian Post reports via Tajik media.
The request was reviewed and approved by the Azerbaijani side in line with established legal procedures.
Nazarmuhammadzoda, 34, had been placed on the international wanted list on fraud charges. He was located and arrested in Azerbaijan in 2025 before the extradition process was initiated.
According to officials, the transfer was carried out in accordance with the Convention on Legal Assistance and Legal Relations in Civil, Family, and Criminal Matters, signed on October 7, 2002.
Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor-General’s Office noted that cooperation between Azerbaijani and Tajik law enforcement agencies continues developing within existing international agreements aimed at combating cross-border crime.
