Uzbekistan and Tajikistan are set to launch a test run of a new multimodal transport corridor connecting Central Asia with China and Europe.
The project will begin with a trial convoy of ten loaded trucks traveling from Uzbekistan through Tajikistan to China, The Caspian Post reports via Turkish media.
The initiative was approved by the transport ministers of both countries, who agreed to jointly focus on the China route and implement electronic permits for international shipments.
Plans also include expanding the capacity of the Jartepa-Sarazm border crossing. A new logistics center will be established there, capable of processing up to 100 trucks per day and speeding up documentation procedures.
