The Tajik sambo masters’ team has returned from Karaganda, Kazakhstan, celebrating a triumphant performance at the Asian Cup in sambo, judo, and Kazakh national wrestling (kazakh-kuresi).
Saydali Urazaliyev, senior coach of the Tajikistan Sambo Federation, has said that every Tajik participant earned three medals of varying value, The Caspian Post reports via Tajik media.
Urazaliyev himself claimed gold in both sambo and kazakh-kuresi, and silver in judo. A Master of Sports of the Soviet Union and multiple international champion, Urazaliyev has led Tajikistan’s sambo and judo masters teams since January 2025.
Another standout was Abushakhnai Saidkhon, who secured three medals and reaffirmed his status as one of Tajikistan’s top wrestlers. Ramz Jurayev, a Master of Sports and multiple Asian and World Championship medalist, won gold in sambo and judo and silver in kazakh-kuresi. Faiziddin Emomov earned silver in sambo and kazakh-kuresi and bronze in judo.
Other medalists included Masters of Sports Faizali Yakhshibekov, Ruslan Zarifbekov, Tirkash Avghonov, Rasoul Hodizoda, and Umar Zammon.
“The performance of Tajik athletes at the Asian Cup in Kazakhstan is a bright testament to the steady development of sambo, judo, and wrestling in Tajikistan,” Urazaliyev said. “The impressive results, by both active athletes and veterans, highlight the effectiveness of our training system and continuity between generations.”
