Trump Extends G20 Invitations to Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan

US President Donald Trump has announced plans to invite the leaders of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan to the G20 summit, scheduled to take place next year in Miami, Florida, underscoring Washington’s growing engagement with Central Asia.

Trump held separate phone conversations earlier this week with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, focusing on peace efforts, trade, and broader cooperation, The Caspian Post reports via Tajik media.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the talks highlighted the importance of bringing peace to ongoing conflicts and expanding economic ties between the countries.

Confirming the invitations, Trump noted that both leaders would attend the G20 summit as guests, calling it part of the US broader outreach to the strategically important Central Asian region.

The move reflects Washington’s increasing interest in Central Asia, which is rich in critical minerals and plays a growing role in global supply chains and regional peace initiatives. Euronews reports that the US is seeking to deepen trade and economic cooperation across the region as part of its wider foreign policy agenda.

Tokayev invited Trump to pay an official visit to Kazakhstan. During their call, Tokayev praised Trump’s leadership in addressing international conflicts and expressed hope that such a visit would become a historic event.

The two leaders also discussed bilateral relations, the situation in Ukraine, and Tokayev’s visit to Washington in November 2025, during which a number of agreements were reached. Tokayev reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s commitment to fully implementing those accords.

The invitation to the G20 summit marks another step in strengthening ties between the US and Central Asia, highlighting the region’s rising profile in global diplomacy.
