Kyrgyzstan has presented its first robotic surgical system, marking a new step in the country’s adoption of advanced medical technology.

The system was demonstrated during a presentation, with officials showcasing its capabilities and how it can be used during robot-assisted procedures, according to AKIPress.

Unlike fully autonomous machines, the system is controlled entirely by a surgeon through a specialized console. The technology allows doctors to operate through small incisions while viewing an enlarged image of the surgical area.

Health Minister Damir Osmonov emphasized that the robot does not perform surgery independently. The surgeon controls every movement and carries out all necessary procedures, while the system provides precise instrument control and enhanced visualization.

The surgical image can be magnified by 10 to 15 times. This can help surgeons work more precisely with small anatomical structures and areas that are difficult to access.

The Kyrgyz State Medical Academy plans to begin performing robot-assisted surgeries at its clinical base in the near future.

Another robotic surgical system is also being purchased this year for the National Center for Maternal and Child Health. The tender process has already been completed, with delivery of the equipment expected soon.
