Kazakhstan and the Czech Republic are looking to strengthen cooperation on modernizing water supply and communal infrastructure.

Kazakh Industry and Construction Vice Minister Kuandyk Kazhkenov met with a Czech delegation led by Deputy Environment Minister Martin Weiss to discuss potential areas for joint work, according to the Kazakh Ministry of Industry and Construction.

The meeting brought together representatives of Kazakhstan’s construction and utilities authorities, Czech government bodies, research institutions and companies specializing in water management and communal infrastructure.

The talks focused on upgrading water supply and sanitation systems, as well as modernizing wastewater treatment facilities.

Digital technologies were also high on the agenda. Czech representatives presented solutions for water monitoring, wastewater treatment, Building Information Modeling (BIM), and the diagnosis of sewer networks.

Kazakhstan plans to modernize nearly 8,000 kilometers of water networks and implement 45 wastewater treatment projects under its national energy and utilities modernization initiative.

Following the talks, both sides expressed interest in developing joint projects and expanding cooperation in the modernization of Kazakhstan’s communal infrastructure.
