Kazakhstan, Switzerland Seek to Expand Cooperation in Key Areas

Kazakh Deputy Foreign Minister Arman Issetov participated in the 7th round of political consultations between Kazakhstan and Switzerland, where the main areas of bilateral cooperation were discussed.

Issetov briefed the Swiss side on the key areas of domestic political reforms in Kazakhstan, with particular attention to the process of establishing the Kurultai, The Caspian Post reports, citing the Kazakh Foreign Ministry.

In this context, the role of parliamentary cooperation in further strengthening bilateral ties was emphasized.

The Kazakh diplomat highlighted prospects for expanding trade and investment cooperation, expressing interest in attracting advanced technologies and investment for joint projects in transport and logistics, digitalization, water resources management, critical metals, green energy and the nuclear industry.

Pierre-Yves Fux, Director of the Eurasia Division of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, presented Switzerland’s regional projects and initiatives in water resources management and migration. He also outlined areas of cooperation in environmental protection, official development assistance and legal cooperation, highlighting opportunities to expand the legal framework governing Kazakhstan-Switzerland relations.

The sides discussed cooperation within international organizations and the promotion of common approaches to current issues on the international agenda. They also reviewed the schedule of upcoming political contacts and reaffirmed their interest in ensuring substantive content for these engagements.

During his visit, Arman Issetov also held a separate meeting with State Secretary of the FDFA Alexandre Fasel. The interlocutors discussed current geopolitical issues and further cooperation within international organizations.

Following the meetings, the sides reaffirmed their interest in further strengthening the Kazakhstan-Switzerland partnership and expanding practical cooperation in priority areas.
