Tajikistan Pushes for Direct Correspondent Accounts with US Column Bank

Tajikistan’s National Bank Chairman Firdavs Tolibzoda has urged Column Bank (US) to assist in establishing correspondent banking relationships with Tajik banks, including the opening of direct correspondent accounts.

The call came during a virtual meeting between Tolibzoda and representatives of the US bank, held at the initiative and with the support of the Embassy of Tajikistan in the US and the US-Tajik Business Council, The Caspian Post informs per Tajik media.

Tolibzoda highlighted that Tajikistan has created a legal framework and favorable conditions to ensure strict adherence to international standards, including Financial Action Task Force (FATF) recommendations.

Both sides, citing over 30 years of friendly relations and partnership between Tajikistan and the US, noted that significant opportunities remain for joint investment projects across various sectors. They also discussed ongoing reforms in Tajikistan’s banking system.

The meeting concluded with both parties expressing hope that the discussions would expand cooperation between Tajik and US banking systems and establish new financial links.

Founded in 2022 and based in San Francisco, Column Bank (Column N.A.) is a US national bank designed for developers who build and manage financial products programmatically. The bank operates its own platform and core banking systems and is directly connected to the US Federal Reserve System.
