Iran to Showcase Engineering Power at Major Ashgabat Expo in 2026

Turkmenistan’s capital Ashgabat is gearing up to host the 16th Iran Project specialized exhibition from January 28-30, 2026 - a major industry event aimed at boosting Iran’s export of technical and engineering services.

The exhibition will bring together top Iranian engineering firms, exporters, and project developers, offering them a direct gateway into Turkmenistan’s rapidly expanding market, The Caspian Post reports via Turkmen media.

Organizers say the event will help companies secure contracts, build technical partnerships, and explore regional cooperation across infrastructure, industrial development, and energy.

With Turkmenistan actively seeking reliable partners for long-term projects, the Ashgabat expo is expected to highlight Iran’s capabilities in oil and gas engineering, petrochemical development, and large-scale international tenders.

The exhibition also builds on growing economic momentum between the two neighbors. In late May, Iran and Turkmenistan signed a commercial roadmap to boost bilateral trade to $3 billion, following the 18th meeting of the Joint Economic Committee in Tehran.

The countries - both positioned along key North-South and East-West transport corridors - also agreed to raise transit volumes to 20 million tons overall, including 16 million tons by 2028.

Additional agreements include the creation of joint free trade zones in Sarakhs-Serakhs and Lotfabad-Artyk, expansion of border markets such as Inche-Borun, a new bilateral gas contract, and progress on major energy infrastructure - including a third Mary-Sarakhs power line and feasibility studies for a potential fourth.
