Turkmenistan has proposed establishing an Ashgabat Climate Dialogue, a multilateral platform to strengthen international cooperation on climate change, water management and environmental protection.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov announced the initiative at the 7th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), held in Baku, according to Report.
“Turkmenistan is putting forward the initiative to establish the Ashgabat Climate Dialogue - a multilateral platform for exchanging experience and coordinating approaches to climate change adaptation, combating desertification and drought, rational use of water resources, and promoting green solutions,” Berdimuhamedov said.
He invited interested countries and international partners to support the proposal.
The Turkmen president stressed that climate change and environmental security remain major global challenges. He said Turkmenistan consistently advocates stronger international cooperation in these areas.
Berdimuhammedov also highlighted the need for CICA member states to coordinate efforts to use water resources efficiently, introduce modern environmental technologies and strengthen the resilience of national economies amid global climate change.
