Azerbaijani Leader Concludes Two-Day Visit to Turkmenistan

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has concluded his working visit to Turkmenistan, according to Azertac.

President Aliyev visited Turkmenistan on October 8-9, 2026, to participate in regional summit meetings and hold talks with fellow leaders. The visit provided an opportunity to discuss regional cooperation, relations with neighboring countries and joint initiatives.

During the two-day visit, on October 8-9, President Aliyev met with Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to discuss expanding cooperation in trade, transport, transit, logistics, culture and humanitarian affairs, as well as Caspian Sea issues.

On October 9, President Aliyev attended the Caspian Environmental Summit, where leaders of the five Caspian littoral states discussed the environmental challenges facing the sea, including its declining water level. The summit agreed to establish a joint commission, with its first meeting scheduled to take place in Azerbaijan in the first half of 2027.

President Aliyev also took part in the eighth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and Azerbaijan and the CIS Council of Heads of State meeting in Turkmenbashi. On the sidelines, he held talks with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
