Russia, Turkmenistan See Nearly 30% Trade Surge in 2025

Trade turnover between Russia and Turkmenistan has increased by nearly 30 per cent since the beginning of 2025 compared to the same period last year.

The announcement comes in the wake of Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev’s official visit to Turkmenistan, signaling a strengthening of bilateral economic cooperation, The Caspian Post reports per Turkmen media.

During his visit, Patrushev was received by Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty (People’s Council) of Turkmenistan. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening strategic partnership, underscoring the positive trajectory of mutual trade and their readiness to broaden cooperation across key sectors.

Agriculture featured prominently in the discussions, with both parties noting a steady increase in the exchange of agricultural goods. Russia expressed its intention to expand exports of food products and mineral fertilizers to Turkmenistan, further solidifying trade ties.

Patrushev also met with Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to explore avenues for enhancing trade and economic collaboration. Environmental cooperation was also high on the agenda, with a particular focus on joint efforts to protect the Caspian Sea ecosystem.

Additionally, the Russian side voiced its interest in deepening dialogue in such areas as environmental conservation, geological research, and the sustainable use of natural resources - sectors that are becoming increasingly vital for long-term regional stability and development.
