Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan have signed a new roadmap aimed at expanding cooperation in the energy sector between 2026 and 2028.

The “Roadmap for Expanding Cooperation in the Energy Sector between the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan for 2026-2028” was signed following a meeting between Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov and his Uzbek counterpart Sherzod Khodjayev, who is visiting Baku, according to the Azerbaijani Energy Ministry.

The document outlines several key areas of cooperation, including the development of the Central Asia-Azerbaijan Green Energy Corridor, cooperation in oil and gas exploration and production, supplies of crude oil and petroleum products, joint projects in refining, and the expansion of SOCAR’s activities in Uzbekistan.

The roadmap also calls for greater exchange of experience and expertise in energy efficiency and thermal power.

During the meeting, the ministers reviewed the current state of cooperation in the oil and gas and electricity sectors, as well as renewable energy, energy efficiency, regulation and mutual investments.

The sides also highlighted the strategic importance of the Central Asia-Azerbaijan Green Energy Corridor.

Azerbaijan’s developing energy links toward the Black Sea and Türkiye are intended to facilitate the transmission of green electricity to Europe. These connections could help create a broader green energy route stretching from Central Asia to Europe.
