A major geological breakthrough has been achieved at the Ustyurt field in Uzbekistan’s Muynak district, where a commercial flow of natural gas has been obtained from exploration well No. 3.
Drilling at the well began on September 8 this year and was carried out by Uzneftegaz Drilling Operations. The work reached a depth of 4,940 meters, targeting Lower Jurassic formations believed to hold significant hydrocarbon potential, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.
Over the next three days, specialists will closely study the reservoir’s natural properties, including the well’s daily output, reservoir pressure, and other key parameters that will determine its commercial viability.
Meanwhile, drilling and testing continue at two additional wells at the Muynak field. Results from these wells are expected in the coming days, potentially strengthening Uzbekistan’s resource base and boosting future gas production prospects.
