Serbia Praises Stable and Friendly Ties with Uzbekistan as Cooperation Accelerates

Serbia’s Foreign Minister Marko Đjurić has met with Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Serbia Aybek Shakhavdinov, highlighting what he described as the strong and problem-free partnership between the two countries.

Đjurić said Serbia and Uzbekistan have no unresolved issues and stressed that the relationship holds “significant potential” for expanding cooperation in all major sectors, The Caspian Post informs via Uzbek media.

A key focus of the meeting was Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić’s first official visit to Uzbekistan, which Đjurić said gave a “powerful impetus” to bilateral relations. The visit resulted in the signing of two major documents - an Agreement on the Mutual Promotion and Protection of Investments and an Agreement on Economic Cooperation - both expected to substantially boost economic ties.

The foreign minister also emphasized that the two countries share closely aligned positions on many regional and international matters. He thanked Uzbekistan for its consistent support of Serbia’s territorial integrity, calling it an important foundation for future cooperation.

Đjurić further expressed appreciation for Uzbekistan’s confirmed participation in Specialized International Expo 2027, saying he is confident that Tashkent will showcase its national capabilities “at a high level.”
