Tajikistan Becomes Top Tourism Source for Uzbekistan

Tajikistan has emerged as one of Uzbekistan’s key sources of international tourists, with more than 2.5 million Tajik citizens visiting the country in the first 11 months of 2025.

According to Uzbekistan’s National Statistics Committee, a total of 10.7 million foreign tourists arrived in Uzbekistan from January to November, representing a sharp 47.4 per cent increase compared to the same period last year, The Caspian Post reports via Tajik media.

The strongest tourist flows came from neighboring countries, led by Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Tajikistan.

Kyrgyzstan topped the list with around 3 million visitors, while Kazakhstan and Tajikistan followed closely, each contributing about 2.5 million tourists. Russia ranked fourth with 923,800 visitors, and Afghanistan completed the top five with 429,400 tourists.

Tourism growth is proving to be a two-way street. Data for the first nine months of 2025 shows that approximately 835,800 Uzbek citizens traveled to Tajikistan. Analysts say the rising cross-border travel is expected to fuel the expansion of tourism services, accelerate infrastructure development, and improve service quality in both countries, strengthening regional tourism ties.
