Uzbek Team Returns Home After Winning 70 Asian Games Medals

Uzbekistan finished the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya in fifth place in the overall medal standings, winning a total of 70 medals.

The Uzbek delegation returned to Tashkent after the Games, where the athletes were welcomed at the airport by Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, sports officials, representatives of the capital’s administration and supporters, according to Podrobno.uz.

Uzbekistan’s medal haul included 21 gold, 25 silver and 24 bronze medals. A total of 396 Uzbek athletes competed across 42 sports at the Games.

The result made Uzbekistan the highest-ranked country among Central Asian states and members of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation. Fifth place also marked the national team’s third consecutive top-five finish at the Asian Games.

Combat sports were particularly successful for Uzbekistan. The country’s wrestlers won four gold and two bronze medals, while the men’s boxing team finished first in the team standings.

Uzbek judokas and taekwondo athletes also delivered strong performances, finishing second in the respective medal standings behind Japan.
