Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister and National Economy Minister Serik Zhumangarin met with Uzbek Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev in Astana to discuss the further development of bilateral economic relations.
The talks covered trade cooperation, the growth of mutual commerce and implementation of the Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan road map, The Caspian Post reports, citing primeminister.kz.
Zhumangarin thanked the Uzbek government for consistently advancing the agreements reached by the two countries’ presidents.
He noted that Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s visit to Astana and the 23rd meeting of the intergovernmental commission had confirmed a strong basis for the two countries’ strategic partnership.
Economic and trade relations between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan have continued to expand. During the first seven months of the year, bilateral trade reached $3.25 billion, representing a 29.8% increase compared with the same period in 2025.
The two countries have set a target of raising bilateral trade turnover to $10 billion.
Khodjaev, for his part, highlighted the positive trajectory of relations between the neighboring states, describing Kazakhstan as a reliable partner and fraternal country for Uzbekistan.
He said the sides are expanding mutual trade and investment, while cargo transportation between the countries is also growing.
Uzbekistan, he added, is interested in further broadening cooperation with Kazakhstan across a wide range of areas.
Following the meeting, the two sides agreed to continue expanding trade and economic ties, advance investment projects and implement agreements reached previously.
