Uzbekistan, Austria Launch Joint Venture to Bring Uzbek Saffron to Europe

A Uzbek delegation led by Bekzod Mamatkulov, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of BMB Holding, has met with Boris Kandov, head of Austrian company Agrotec, to discuss new opportunities for trade and investment.

Uzbek Ambassador to Austria, Bakhtiyor Ibragimov, also attended the meeting, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

The talks focused on strengthening economic ties, launching large-scale investment projects, and boosting cooperation in agricultural processing and exports.

Following the meeting, BMB Holding and Agrotec signed an agreement to establish a joint venture called AGROINVEST. The new company aims to export high-quality Uzbek agricultural products, including natural saffron and BMB Za’faron-branded goods, to European Union markets via Austria. The venture will also facilitate the import of in-demand European products into Uzbekistan.

The initiative is expected to expand trade and economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Austria while promoting premium Uzbek products on European markets.
