Uzbekistan Confirms 4.2 Magnitude Quake Strikes Bukhara

The Seismic Prognostic Monitoring Center under the Uzbek Ministry of Emergency Situations has stated that an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.2 struck Uzbekistan on July 14, 2025, at 15:55 (GMT+5).

The quake’s epicenter was located in the Jondor District of Bukhara Region at a depth of 15 kilometers, with geographic coordinates of 40.42° N latitude and 62.99° E longitude, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.

The earthquake registered an intensity of 4 on the Richter scale at the epicenter. Surrounding areas experienced milder tremors: Peshkun District, 39 kilometers away, felt a 2-3 intensity; Gazli city, 51 kilometers from the epicenter, reported intensity 2; and Karakul District, 73 kilometers distant, also experienced intensity 2 tremors.

The epicenter lies approximately 532 kilometers southwest of Uzbekistan’s capital, Tashkent.
