During the International Forum “From Poverty to Prosperity” in Namangan, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has met with Dr. Muhammad Sulaiman Al Jasser, President of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation.
Dr. Al Jasser congratulated Uzbekistan on the successful organization of the forum and reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to actively supporting initiatives aimed at poverty reduction in the country, The Caspian Post reports via the Uzbek president’s press service.
President Mirziyoyev proposed a long-term strategic partnership program designed to double the IsDB project portfolio and increase financing across infrastructure, social, and private sectors. Key priorities highlighted during the discussion included business development, construction of modern regional medical centers, modernization of highways, and upgrading of irrigation systems.
Uzbekistan’s collaboration with the IsDB has expanded significantly in recent years, with the joint project portfolio surpassing $5 billion, covering transport, infrastructure, energy, housing, healthcare, and education, with over 40 per cent of investments directed to the private sector.
