Uzbekistan, Japan Exchange Key Agreements

Uzbekistan and Japan have held a ceremony for the exchange of bilateral agreements in the presence of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Japan’s Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Ryosei Akazawa.

The event brought together top executives from leading Japanese corporations and financial institutions, including Sojitz, Sumitomo, Toyota, ITOCHU, Mitsubishi, Marubeni, Hitachi, Mitsui, NEC, and others, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

The discussions focused on modern special economic zones, high-tech and export-oriented production, production automation, and digital management systems.

With the support of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), plans are underway to create a special economic zone in Uzbekistan modeled on Japanese standards.

President Mirziyoyev highlighted that Japan is not just an investor, but a strategic partner in building the industry of the future. His official visit, running December 18-20, includes participation in the first Central Asia + Japan Dialogue summit, addressing cooperation in the green economy, sustainable development, regional connectivity, and human capital development.
