A 17-year-old Uzbek citizen who reported being subjected to attempted forced marriage, physical abuse and forced labor in Türkiye has been returned to Uzbekistan with assistance from the country’s Consulate General in Istanbul and the Migration Fund.
The girl was taken to Türkiye under the pretext of pursuing her education, according to UzDaily.
She later sought help from Uzbek diplomats, reporting abuse and attempts to force her into marriage.
The Consulate General arranged legal assistance and provided consular and legal support. With the help of the Migration Fund, the girl was able to return safely to Uzbekistan.
Relevant organizations are now overseeing measures to ensure her safety and provide social, legal and psychological support.
Uzbek citizens working abroad who experience violence, forced labor, humiliation or severe financial hardship are advised to seek assistance from diplomatic missions and specialized organizations.
