Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who is on a visit to South Korea, held talks with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung in both a restricted format and in the presence of official delegations.

The talks focused on further developing and deepening the special strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and South Korea, according to the Uzbek president’s office.

The two sides highlighted growing trade and investment ties. More than 700 joint ventures with South Korean capital are currently operating in Uzbekistan.

The leaders also stressed the need to step up contacts between the two countries’ parliaments, ministries and government agencies, regional administrations and business communities.

As a result of the visit, the two countries have prepared projects worth around $12 billion in total.

In addition, Uzbekistan and South Korea adopted an $8 billion strategic partnership program with the Export-Import Bank of Korea (KEXIM).
