Hotel Becomes Scene of Drug Trafficking Arrest in Uzbekistan

A 38-year-old resident of Denau has been detained at a hotel in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, while attempting to sell a large quantity of hashish valued at $26,000.

The operation was carried out jointly with customs authorities and the Interior Ministry, according to podrobno.uz.

Investigators said the suspect, who had previously been convicted of drug-related offenses, brought 1.185 kilograms of hashish to the capital and handed it over to an undercover buyer. He was detained while receiving $21,000 in payment.

A 39-year-old accomplice was also detained near the hotel. The man, who was reportedly driving a Chevrolet Cobalt, had previously been convicted of theft.

A criminal case has been opened, and investigative proceedings are ongoing.
