Uzbekistan is considering expanding security services for tourists, including bodyguard protection for foreign visitors, official delegations and business representatives.
The proposal was discussed by the Security Department of Uzbekistan’s Interior Ministry and the Tourism Committee. The two agencies agreed to jointly develop new measures to strengthen tourist safety, according to gov.uz.
The plans include enhanced security along routes with heavy tourist traffic, at historical and cultural sites, hotels and recreation areas.
The Security Department also presented new service formats involving risk assessments, route security planning and rapid response during emergencies.
Tourist destinations could see wider use of video surveillance, technical security systems and rapid-response teams. Targeted security programs are also planned for specific tourism destinations.
Officials stressed that tourist safety should cover the entire journey, from a visitor’s arrival in Uzbekistan until the end of their trip.
