Uzbekistan, UAE Explore Implementation of Joint Energy Projects

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with a high-level delegation from the United Arab Emirates, led by Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei.

The heads of Masdar Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, TAQA Jasim Husain Thabet, TAQA Water Solutions Ahmed Al Shamsi, and Etihad Water & Electricity Yousif Al Ali also attended the meeting, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.

These companies are the world’s leading manufacturers and operators in energy supply, water supply, and treatment system management.

The plans for implementing investment projects in Uzbekistan were considered, primarily in green energy, public utility network modernization, and drinking water supply improvement.

The President of Uzbekistan noted with great satisfaction that strategic interaction in the energy sector is the driving force of bilateral cooperation.

Five projects worth $1.5 billion have been jointly launched in this direction. In December, a wind power station with a capacity of 500 megawatts was put into operation in Navoi region, and the construction of several other facilities is in the active phase.

The President of Uzbekistan supported the companies’ plans to expand the capacity of existing thermal power plants, modernize low-voltage power grids, accelerate the construction of new hydroelectric power plants, energy storage systems, large solar and wind power plants in the regions of Uzbekistan.

In addition, broad opportunities for developing water supply networks and creating new treatment facilities on the principles of public-private partnership were noted.
