Unprecedented Heat to Blanket Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan will face abnormally high temperatures, with several regions forecasted to experience record-breaking heat.

The Republican Hydrometeorological Service (Uzhydromet) has stated that scorching air masses will enter Uzbekistan from the south - originating in Turkmenistan and Iran - resulting in a sharp temperature increase nationwide, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbekistan’s Zamin news website.

Regional Forecasts:

July 4: Heat will intensify in Navoi and Bukhara, reaching 44-46°C.

July 4-5: Central and southern regions - including Tashkent, Samarkand, Jizzakh, Kashkadarya, Surkhandarya, Syrdarya, and Andijan - will experience 42-44°C, with some desert zones possibly hitting 46°C.

This sharp rise will be especially noticeable starting July 4, prompting warnings for public health.

Health and Safety Advisory:

Stay indoors during peak heat hours (11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. GMT+5)

Wear protective clothing, hats, and sunglasses

Drink 2-3 liters of water daily

Avoid strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day

Extra care is advised for pregnant women, children, and the elderly

“The Hottest Week of the Summer”

Meteorologists are calling this stretch the most extreme heatwave of the season, especially in dry desert areas where the conditions are harsh and potentially dangerous for human health.

Agriculture and Electricity Strain

The heatwave is expected to put pressure on agriculture, particularly in areas with poor irrigation. It may also lead to power grid overloads due to increased use of fans and air conditioning. Authorities are working to ensure continuous energy supply during this critical period.

Official Warning from Uzhydromet

Uzhydromet urges residents to:

Monitor weather updates

Minimize travel

Reschedule outdoor work if possible

Take heat precautions seriously

Conclusion

The first week of July could pose serious challenges for Uzbekistan. With temperatures 7-10°C above seasonal norms, this heatwave is classified as an anomalous weather event. Citizens are strongly advised to protect their health, follow safety recommendations, and help spread awareness during this extreme period.
