Armenia Readies to Host 8th European Community Summit, Says Pashinyan

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced during the closing session of the 7th European Community Summit in Copenhagen that Armenia has begun preparations for the 8th European Community Summit.

"In the upcoming months, we will present new ideas and initiatives aimed at further enhancing and revitalizing the European Community," the government press service reported the prime minister's remarks, The Caspian Post reports citing Armenian media.

Pashinyan indicated that Armenia is gearing up to host the next, 8th, summit in Yerevan, building upon the achievements of previous European Community summits.

"Hosting the 8th European Community Summit in Armenia will bolster our integration into the European family and provide an opportunity to showcase our advancements in democratic reforms," he stated.

The prime minister emphasized that one of the central themes of the Yerevan European Community Summit will be connectivity.

"The implementation of the Middle Corridor and the facilitation of seamless connectivity between Europe, the South Caucasus, and Central Asia for the transportation of goods, energy, and the installation of fiber-optic cables is of mutual interest," he remarked.

Moreover, the Prime Minister asserted that it is essential to enhance Europe's capacity to address hybrid threats while simultaneously upholding the principles of democratic governance, the rule of law, free and fair elections, and political pluralism, even amidst internal and external pressures.

"As Armenia will also host the COP17 biodiversity conference next year, we anticipate that the European Political Community can serve as a platform for discussing the green transition agenda, with the understanding that the outcomes of our discussions will subsequently be presented on the global stage during COP17," he added.

The 8th European Political Community summit is scheduled to take place in Yerevan on May 4, 2026
