Armenian PM Names Anna Hakobyan as Spouse in Official US Trip Order

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has authorized a US trip for Anna Hakobyan, describing her in an official government decision as the spouse of the head of government-months after she publicly announced the end of their relationship.

According to the decree signed on June 11, Hakobyan will travel to the United States from June 26 to July 4 to participate in the annual event of the Global First Ladies Academy in New York, The Caspian Post reports via News.am.

The document states that she is traveling in her capacity as the prime minister’s spouse, with the Armenian government instructed to cover the actual expenses associated with the trip. The amount of state funding allocated for the visit has not been disclosed.

The decision has attracted attention because Hakobyan publicly announced in February 2026 that her civil marriage to Pashinyan had ended. In a social media post, she asked the public to be respectful and restrained when discussing the matter.

Days later, she reiterated that their relationship had ended and said she was leaving the government residence to move into a rented apartment while awaiting completion of a home purchased through a mortgage.

However, in April, Pashinyan told reporters he was making efforts to preserve his family and was grateful for what he described as another chance.
